New Albany-Floyd County Consolidated School Corporation consisted of 14 Elementary Schools (2 were annexes), 2 Junior High Schools and 1 High School when we started school in 1960. In 1970, Prosser Vocational Center opened for Juniors and Seniors to earn vocational training if they didn't have college plans. There was also 4 parochial schools for grades 1st - 8th and the 9th graders then came to Hazelwood and Scribner.
When we started first grade in 1960, the elementary schools were grades 1st - 6th. The Junior High Schools were 7th - 9th and the High School was 10th - 12th.
There were teachers that traveled between the elementary schools for music, art, band and orchestra.
Music Teacher - Mr. Harry Neely
Art Teacher - Mrs. JoAnne Brooks
Band Teacher - Mr. Don McMahel
Orchestra Teacher - Mr. Rubin Sher
I tried to get a picture of what each school looked like when we attended them, but so many have been torn down and rebuilt now.
If you by chance have a picture of any school that I do not have posted or any information that is missing or incorrect, please email me.
